| 2017 | In terms of climate, the 2017 vintage began with a winter of mild temperatures and moderate rainfall, followed by a spring with average rain and higher temperatures than usual, which favoured early sprouting. Like many wineries in the area, this vintage was marked by the fateful night of April 28, when temperatures dropped drastically causing frosts of catastrophic consequences. This frost, fortunately, had different effects on the crop, depending on the orography and the phenolic state of the vineyard. This way, in Artadi vineyard, the impact caused a 20-25% reduction of the harvest.In months following the frost, the weather conditions were frankly beneficial for the recovery of the vineyard, with temperatures and rains higher to the average in the region. Thus allowed harvesting with almost imperceptible phenolic differences.As Carlos López de Lacalle tells us, a great vintage that has managed to make adversity an occasion of virtue. |
