About Quinta Apolonia

Quinta Apolonia is a barrel-fermented white wine crafted by Belondrade y Lurtón using the verdejo grape variety in Castilla-León (Spain).

Belondrade y Lurtón is a winery located in La Seca, at the very heart of Rueda (Castilla-León). Its founder, Didier Belondrade, is a French lawyer who transformed his hobby into his passion by constructing a Bordeaux-style chateau in Spain. Designed by the architect Vicent Dufos du Rau, this winery boasts cutting-edge technology and is sustained by the 30 hectares of vineyards that surround it, producing impressive verdejos.

Quinta Apolonia originates from estate-owned vineyards with an average age of 8 years. These are planted on stony and clay-sandy soils at an altitude of 750 metres above sea level. A respectful approach to agriculture is practised, and the harvest is done manually at the optimal point of ripeness.

In the winery, the grapes for Quinta Apolonia ferment in stainless steel tanks and concrete eggs. An assemblage is then performed with the wine used to produce its elder sibling, Belondrade y Lurton, which comes from 80-year-old vines and is barrel-fermented.

Named after one of Didier Belondrade's daughters, Quinta Apolonia is a wine that combines the zest of verdejo with the complexity of barrel ageing. It is the most varietal interpretation of this grape.
