About Peique Mata Los Pardos Vino de Paraje

In the quaint corners of Valtuille de Abajo, nestled within the Bierzo region of Spain, just as in many other villages, wine was traditionally crafted for personal consumption. Indeed, the art of winemaking has been a deeply ingrained tradition passed down through generations. An artisanal craft that has been handed down from parents to children with love and dedication, and which today's younger generations have not only preserved but also elevated to new heights, showcasing to the world the enchantment concealed within each bottle of wine produced on this land rich in history and tradition. A surname synonymous with this renaissance is undoubtedly Peique, a viticultural family whose profound love for nature has led their limited productions to be admired worldwide.

One of their most cherished wines, Peique Mata Los Pardos Vino de Paraje, embodies the very essence of its origin. A Mencía grape variety from a plot with clay soils peppered with pebbles and boulders, situated at an altitude of 520-550 meters above sea level. Cultivated organically, the harvest is carried out manually. Thereafter, in the cellar, the winemaking begins with traditional foot treading and the addition of one-third of the grapes with their stems. The fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeasts in open 500-liter French oak barrels. There, the wine matures for approximately 12 months before bottling.

A direct result of familial heritage, Peique Mata Los Pardos Vino de Paraje is an authentic and profound expression of the land from which it originates. A limited production that is fresh, luscious, and profound, it captivates the senses and celebrates the grandeur of the Bierzo.
