About Kir Yianni Assyrtiko - Amyndeon

In the heights of northern Greece, where the white assyrtiko grape variety finds its home on the Amyndeon plateau, a wine is born with a history that arouses curiosity.

In Greece's coolest wine region, on terrain that defies conventions, at an altitude of 600 metres and surrounded by a unique landscape of natural elements, including 4 lakes and several mountain ranges, with incredible biodiversity, part of the EU's protected sites network NATURA 2000, emerges Kir Yianni Assyrtiko - Amyndeon, a white wine that captures the essence of its environment. The combination of natural factors, such as the cool northern winds and the surrounding lakes, results in one of the purest and most vibrant expressions of this iconic variety.

Kir-Yianni, established in 1997 by Yiannis Boutaris, is a winery that honours both tradition and innovation. With a philosophy rooted in sustainability and respect for the terroir, this winery has established itself as a benchmark in Greek viticulture. Today, under the leadership of Stellios Boutaris, a fifth-generation winemaker, Kir-Yianni continues to elevate the quality of its wines, blending decades of experience with a modern and sustainable approach.

Kir Yianni Assyrtiko - Amyndeon offers an introduction to the mountainous expression of the white assyrtiko variety; it comes from carefully selected young vines (with an average age of 10 years), cultivated at high altitude, where the four neighbouring lakes act as moderators of the surrounding temperatures throughout the year. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes undergo a rigorous vinification process that highlights their fruit purity. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and with contact on fine lees for four months, this wine is characterised by vibrant acidity, notes of peach and apricot, and a delicate mineral undertone. Each sip reflects the mountainous and fresh character of the region.

Kir Yianni Assyrtiko - Amyndeon is an ideal white wine to pair with fresh dishes such as seafood, ceviches, or salads, and its versatility makes it an excellent choice to enjoy on its own, during moments of relaxation or celebration. A wine that not only reflects Kir-Yianni's commitment to the land but also the experience that transforms each glass into a small adventure.
