Gran Resalte 2021 exhibits a balanced and sophisticated character. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe plums and blackberries, interwoven with subtle hints of black pepper and vanilla, a result of its maturation in wood. On the palate, it is slightly full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and an acidity that imparts freshness and liveliness to the whole. The finish is persistent, leaving a pleasant fruity and spicy aftertaste that entices continued enjoyment.

About Gran Resalte

Gran Resalte is a single-varietal red wine made from Tempranillo within the DO. Ribera del Duero, crafted by Resalte de Peñafiel.

Resalte de Peñafiel is a winery located in Peñafiel that produces wines under the DO. Ribera del Duero. Established in 2000, this winery creates modern and intricate wines. All their wines are made from Tempranillo, the region's native variety. It encompasses 80 hectares of vineyards with varying orientations, altitudes, and soil types, allowing for the production of wines with diverse profiles.

The vineyards of Gran Resalte are over 70 years old. They yield very little fruit, yet of exceptional quality. These vineyards are situated on slopes with varying altitudes and sun exposure. Harvesting is done manually to ensure the grapes remain as intact as possible when they reach the winery.

Gran Resalte is crafted using gravity flow winemaking techniques to preserve the integrity of the grapes, must, and wine. The harvest is macerated at 8°C before fermentation begins to extract colour, aromas, and fine tannins. It then ferments at a maximum temperature of 28°C and undergoes malolactic fermentation and ageing in new French oak barrels for at least 24 months.

Gran Resalte is the most iconic wine of the winery. A wine of great structure, balanced, complex, and intense.

Gran Resalte 2020 unfurls in the glass, showcasing a spectrum of aromas dominated by plum and cherry, interwoven with hints of vanilla, licorice, and delicate strokes of spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, delivering a rich and concentrated texture that conjures the ripeness of the fruit. Its tannins are robust yet seamlessly integrated, and the finish is enduring, leaving an impression of balance and depth.
 
2019 Gran Resalte 2019 is a red wine that exudes a robust character on the nose, presenting a bouquet of ripe dark fruits complemented by spicy and balsamic undertones, with nuances of cocoa and coffee emerging. On the palate, it boasts its complexity, reaffirming its fruity essence with an elegant and velvety progression from start to finish. This red wine possesses a noteworthy aging potential.
2014

Gran Resalte 2014 boasts a deep garnet red hue, profoundly dark with a high robe. Olfactorily, it is profound and intense, exuding a mineral essence, replete with scents of flowers, violets, red fruit, licorice, sweet spices, and truffle. On the palate, it is creamy and robust. Meaty, with mature, velvety tannins. The woodsy notes, indicative of its aging process, are impeccably balanced with the fruit. The finish is fruit-forward, highlighting notes of cherry and red licorice.
2010 Gran Resalte 2010 has a fine, deep and complex nose, and with intense aromas of flowers such as violets, red fruit, liquorice, sweet spices and mineral notes. On the palate it is fleshy, powerful and velvety at the same time. Wood also appears balanced with fruit, and in the aftertaste fruit predominate, with cherries and red liquorice.
