About Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet

Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet is a wood-aged white wine made by Domaine Leflaive with the Chardonnay variety in the AOC Puligny-Montrachet / Côte-d'Or, in Burgundy.
 
Domaine Leflaive, one of the most iconic Burgundy winemakers, began winegrowing in 1917 when he inherited a winery in Puligny and left his job as an engineer. Over the years, he dedicated his life to acquiring Grand Crus and Premier Cru and committed to producing quality wines with their own personality. When he died in 1953, his four sons took over and continued to produce some of the most exciting Burgundy whites. 
 
Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet is a blend of six vineyards. Since 1990, they have been committed to biodynamics and have become a benchmark for these methods in Burgundy. Taking on the challenge of using sustainable practices without sacrificing the quality of the wines, they use organic agriculture and the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum point of ripeness. 
 
In the winery, the Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet grapes are gently and slowly pressed and the resulting must is racked into barrels to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 12 months in used and new barrels and then 6 months in a tank. Finally, it is homeopathically clarified and very lightly filtered.
 
Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet is a clean, bright and deep wine that proves that biodynamics is not incompatible with quality. A deep and very mineral white Bordeaux.

2018 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 2018 is a creamy white wine with aromas of citrus and white fruit, dried flowers and hints of toast. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied, vibrant and very precise. It reveals a silky and very elegant texture and a wonderful acidity that lingers on the palate. The finish is fresh, intense and mineral.
