Codorniu Gran Plus Ultra Chardonnay exhibits a pale yellow hue, both clear and radiant, with fine bubbles forming a persistent crown. On the nose, it reveals an aromatic complexity that blends notes of green apple, pear, and spring flowers, alongside toasted hints of brioche and nuts. On the palate, it is creamy and well-balanced, with a fruity profile that accentuates the freshness of the chardonnay variety. Its bitter touch, due to the absence of added sugars, imparts a distinctive and pleasant character.

About Codorníu Gran Plus Ultra Chardonnay

On ancient maps, the Strait of Gibraltar was marked with the phrase "Non Plus Ultra" ("No further beyond"), indicating the end of the known world. However, with the advent of the Age of Discoveries, that "Non" was erased, giving way to "Plus Ultra": a symbol of ambition, progress, and the desire to transcend boundaries. In this spirit, Codorníu, one of Spain's most iconic and oldest wineries and a global benchmark in the production of cava in Penedès (Catalonia), has crafted a collection of cavas that challenge convention.

Codorníu Gran Plus Ultra Chardonnay is a cava made from chardonnay vines located in Costers del Segre (Catalonia), an area of the DO Cava with a distinctly continental climate. After the harvest, the grape is destemmed and pressed at the winery, and the resulting must ferments in contact with oak at a temperature of 15-17°C for 12-15 days. After blending the different base wines, it is bottled along with the tirage liqueur and undergoes a second fermentation followed by an aging period in contact with the lees for a minimum of 18 months. Finally, disgorging and dosage are carried out.

In this manner, Codorníu Gran Plus Ultra Chardonnay is the first cava in Spain crafted with the prestigious chardonnay variety, elevating cava to new heights and celebrating innovation and the breaking of barriers.
