About Perelada Cigonyes Tinto

If there is a winery where attention to detail is paramount, it is Perelada. Every nuance, every peculiarity, is mirrored in their wines, with bottles that become true tributes. One such wine is Perelada Cigonyes Tinto, with which this winery in the DO Empordà demonstrates its commitment to the reintroduction of storks in Girona. 
 
It appears that, for years, the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park has been working to encourage the proliferation of this species in the region, where historically storks were scarce. Perelada contributes its part with the gardens of the Castillo de Perelada, where in 1998 a pair of these birds nested for the first time. Several decades later, this number has increased to 30 pairs and 50 chicks, thus ensuring the perpetuation of the species. 
 
To celebrate this success, Perelada crafts Perelada Cigonyes Tinto, a blend of garnacha and syrah that thrives at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level on granite and slate soils. Perelada Cigonyes Tinto is harvested, destemmed, and crushed, with the resulting must transferred to a tank for maceration. Subsequently, Perelada Cigonyes Tinto moves to stainless steel tanks where fermentation occurs. Finally, Perelada Cigonyes Tinto is racked and transferred to French oak barrels for a brief ageing period of several months.

2023

Perelada Cigonyes Tinto 2023 is a red wine with a pale, brilliant garnet hue. On the nose, it is distinguished by its intense fragrance of red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, accompanied by nuances of black fruits like blackberries, enhanced by subtle ageing notes. On the palate, it is light and well-balanced, with a refreshing acidity that accentuates its savoury character. Its silky texture and persistence make it a highly pleasant and effortlessly enjoyable wine.

Cigonyes Tinto 2021 is a red wine boasting a deep violet hue. The bouquet is intricate, exuding aromas of tart fruits complemented by the distinctive nuances imparted by barrel aging. On the palate, it presents a refreshing and harmonious profile, with velvety and well-integrated tannins. The finish is lingering, embracing, and pleasantly approachable.
2020

Cigonyes Tinto 2020 is a very expressive red wine. The nose is concentrated, with aromas of red fruits and notes of barrel aging. The palate is smooth, fresh and balanced, with very rounded tannins. Silky. Long and persistent finish.
2019 Cigonyes Tinto 2019 is a succulent red wine brimming with the scents of tart red fruits, underlaid by a spicy and toasted nuance. On the palate, it is savory, vibrant, and harmoniously balanced. This wine boasts prominently structured yet exquisitely smooth tannins, culminating in a congenial and remarkably lingering finish.
