About César Márquez Pérez El Rapolao

César Márquez Pérez El Rapolao is a red wine produced by César Márquez Pérez in Valtuille de Abajo (León), D.O. Bierzo.

 

After years of experience in the family winery, Castro Ventosa, and in Mendoza (Argentina) with the Michelini family, César Márquez Pérez, nephew of renowned oenologist from El Bierzo, Raul Pérez, made his first wines on his own.

In the facilities of La Vizcaína, César Márquez Pérez vinified, with wisdom and enthusiasm, small lots from the best vineyards in the area.

 

César Márquez Pérez El Rapolao is a wine made mainly with Mencía from the farm El Rapolao, the freshest plot in the Valtuille area, located on clay soils with small amounts of organic matter. He shares this farm with Raul Pérez himself, La Vizcaína and Diego Magaña.

After the manual harvest, and already in the winery, the whole bunches ferment in open barrels with native yeasts. Once the fermentation has finished, it is aged for 12 months in 500-litre French oak barrels.

 

César Márquez Pérez El Rapolao is a concentrated, expressive and fresh wine. The aromas of ripe red fruit stand out from the notes of smoke and spices. Direct in the mouth, with intensity and volume. Only 300 bottles of this treasure are produced.
