Aciano 2021 captivates initially with its deep cherry hue. Upon approaching the nose, fresh notes of wild berries such as blackberries and raspberries are awakened, complemented by a refreshing aroma of aromatic herbs and a floral hint that imparts a subtle elegance. About Aciano

Aciano is a single-vineyard red wine crafted by Alvar de Dios in El Pego, within the DO Toro. Its name preserves the memory of a pivotal figure for the project: the elders of the village referred to Álvar's grandfather by this name, the man from whom he inherited this vineyard and, with it, much of his connection to the land. A tribute that today lends its name to one of the most personal wines of this winemaker.

The story of Aciano begins in El Tomillar, a small site situated at 711 meters above sea level, where a vineyard of just three hectares was planted in 1919. These are old, ungrafted vines, currently cultivated following biodynamic principles and rooted in extraordinarily sandy soils, with nearly 98% sand and abundant pebbles over Quaternary sandstones. An austere landscape with a continental climate that forces the vines to delve deep, imparting the wine with a pronounced mineral character.
 
Although tinta de toro is the predominant variety, this ancient vineyard is also a small mosaic of grapes, including garnacha, mencía, verdejo, and malvasía. All the grapes are hand-harvested and arrive at the winery without destemming. After a cold pre-fermentation, they ferment with indigenous yeasts for about 30 days, in a process that aims to respect the expression of the vineyard to the fullest. Subsequently, Aciano undergoes 12 months of ageing in foudres and large oak barrels, where it gains depth and complexity without losing its character.
 
The result is a red wine that speaks not only of the tinta de toro but also of a centenary vineyard, a landscape, and a family history that Álvar de Dios has sought to keep alive within every bottle.

Aciano 2019 is a succulent red wine boasting an olfactory bouquet brimming with wild berries, hints of violet florals, and nuances of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is stern, expansive, and invigorating. A wine characterized by its granular and sandy tannins. The finish is protracted, arid, and imbued with a mineral essence.
