About Vadio Rexarte

Luís Patrão is the driving force behind Vadio, a small winery founded in 2005 with the aim of recovering traditional varieties to produce boutique wines with a classic style and a strong personality in the DOC Bairrada (Portugal) that reflect the authenticity of this region.
 
Vadio Rexarte is a red wine that fulfills Luís Patrão’s philosophy: to offer the purest and most sincere expression of this land’s qualities. Vadio Rexarte is made on a limited basis, only in exceptional years, (no more than 1,300 bottles) using bunches of the Baga variety from a small 0.3 hectare plot lying on a hillside facing north with predominantly sandy and clay-limestone soils. A low yielding vineyard that offers high concentration and produces wines of great complexity and texture.
 
Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts, in small tanks and partly with whole clusters. Pump overs are carried out manually. Following fermentation, the resulting wine is aged in used 500-litre French oak barrels.
 
The Baga red variety is the predominant grape in Bairrada and produces wines with a delicate colour that can age in the bottle for many years.
 
Vadio Rexarte is a wine that sincerely reveals the purity of this variety, which expresses itself as ripe and balsamic. An elegant red, perfect to be enjoyed now, but promising beautiful complexity over time.

Vadio Rexarte 2016 is a red wine with ripe fruit and balsamic notes that dance in a perfect balance between power and elegance. A bright and refined wine, with a pleasant persistence, very good for drinking now, but promising a long and beautiful development in the bottle.
