Pastis Toni
Pastis (1 Liter).
Pastis Toni is a clear, almost transparent liqueur that turns opaque when mixed with water (a highly characteristic feature of its production). It has an intense nose with notes of anise and other herbs along with spices reminiscent of fennel and licorice. The palate is sweet and smooth, very refreshing and balanced. A lingering and slightly bitter finish.
About Pastis Toni
Absinthe, so the saying goes, was the drink that drove Van Gogh crazy. For this - and many other reasons - the famous green beverage was banned in France in 1915. When one door closes, however, another window (or in this case sale) opens. Something good can come out of even the toughest situations. And in this case, the result was pastis, another tremendously popular drink in France. Nowadays, there are countless brands and distilleries dedicated to its production. At Decántalo - and not to toot our own horn, but we know what we’re talking about - we recommend Pastis Toni.
Distillation is the first step in the production of Pastis Toni. Ingredients such as anise and other herbs and spices are distilled in stills, allowing for the extraction of the essential oils. This extract is mixed with alcohol and one part water is added. This last step is what defines the alcohol content of Pastis Toni.
In France, you can’t have an aperitif without pastis, let alone without Pastis Toni.
