About Òrbita Venus Macabeu

If you hear "Fists Out!" and your memory conjures images of the schoolyard, that corner where childhood turned into adventure, and the distant echo of Mazinger Z (a classic anime from the 70s) accompanied your games, it is because you belong to a generation that cherishes those years fondly. René Barbier Meyer, an innovative oenologist and heir to a legendary wine family from Priorat known for his passion and creativity in winemaking, also carries that nostalgia in his soul. But rather than merely reliving those moments, he transforms them into wine with the same passion and courage with which he surely faced his small childhood battles.

This is how "Fists Out" was born, the collection that René presents under the brand Òrbita Venus. A fun and carefree project, yes, but also an intimate nod to those childhood days when a shout was a full declaration of intent. Together with the wineries Succés Vinícola and Carlania, in the Conca de Barberà, René has embarked on a delicate experimentation with Mediterranean varieties and traditional techniques, to create low-alcohol wines that aim to captivate the senses and offer an experience that blends innovation and tenderness.

Among them, Òrbita Venus Macabeu stands out, a wine made entirely of macabeu from two estates in Barberà de la Conca, with their north and south faces, their differences and their secrets. The grapes are pressed in two ways: one part directly and the other macerated with their skins for a week. Afterwards, both are aged separately in old barrels for 8 months, then continue with biological ageing—under a layer of flor—that adds depth and complexity for another 8 or 9 months.

Òrbita Venus Macabeu is a tribute to tradition, patience, and the constant pursuit of something different. A wine that, like that childhood battle cry, invites you to raise your fist and celebrate life with a bold touch and much heart.
