About Jean-Yves Péron Les Oeillets

Jean-Yves Péron Les Oeillets is a natural orange wine made from the Jacquère variety by Jean-Yves Péron in the Savoy region of France. 
 
After studying oenology in Bordeaux and working with the masters of natural wines Thierry Allemand in Cornas and Bruno Schueller in Alsace, Jean-Yves Péron decided to return to Savoy in 2004 and set up his own project in the village of Chevaline. Here he focusses on sloping micro-plots that are cultivated with minimal intervention and maximum dedication to make wines that showcase the high quality of Savoy wines.
 
Jean-Yves Péron Les Oeillets comes from a 3.5 hectare plot with soils mainly composed of slate and limestone. These are old vines growing at an altitude of 350-550 metres above sea level and, although they do not have any official certification, they are organically, ecologically and biodynamically cultivated. A low density and fully artisan cultivation.  
 
After a manual harvest, the selected Jean-Yves Péron Les Oeillets grapes are macerated with skins for 2 months and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 3 years in used oak barrels. Finally, it is bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphites. 
 
Jean-Yves Péron Les Oeillets is an original orange wine from Savoy whose maceration produces both complexity and finesse. A natural way of showing the brilliance and tension typical of the native Jacquère variety.
 
2018 Jean-Yves Péron Les Oeillets 2018 is an aromatic orange wine suffused with scents of stone fruits, citrus zest, herbal undertones, and saline hints. On the palate, it boasts a robust structure, a chewy texture, and a formidable tension. The finish is profound and imbued with minerality.
