About Fazenda Agricola Augalevada Número dous blanco
Envision a venue that originates within a house, crafted by the local residents to channel the surplus wine from local consumption. It is a cosy, almost clandestine nook where wine flows freely, accompanied by good food and laughter. This is what, in Galicia, is known as a "furancho." Thus begins the tale of Fazenda Agricola Augalevada.
It all commenced with a love story between Liliana Fernández and Iago Garrido. Their connection was instantaneous, as if destiny had brought them together. Together, they decided to embark on a unique adventure. In 2009, they began shaping their project on the family estate, a small hidden paradise in Rioboó Cenlle, at the heart of the Ribeiro. There, over 2.5 hectares of land, which have now expanded to 4, they started planting the indigenous varieties of the region, guided by their passion for the land and biodynamics.
The estate bears the name Augalevada, affectionately called so by the oldest locals, a name that captures the very essence of this unique landscape and yields wines like Fazenda Agricola Augalevada Número dous blanco. This white wine, crafted from the indigenous varieties treixadura, albariño, and godello, comes from vineyards aged between 25 and 50 years. The selected plots are situated along the banks of the Arnoia, Avia, and Miño rivers, on soils of decomposed granite, red slate, and clay-rich gneiss, which impart a unique minerality to the wine.
The vinification process adheres to a natural philosophy. The harvest is manual, ensuring only the finest grapes reach the winery. Subsequently, the wine is gently pressed and allowed to ferment spontaneously with native yeasts. To add greater complexity, a maceration is carried out in 600-litre oak barrels and 400-litre clay amphorae, where the wine remains for 8 months.
The result is a fresh, vibrant white, full of character, conveying the essence of the land from which it was born. Thus, each sip of Fazenda Agricola Augalevada Número dous blanco carries with it a fragment of that unique landscape and the people who make it possible.
