About Domaine Tempier La Tourtine

When Lucie Tempier, also known as Lulu, was given the family estate in the centre of Bandol as a wedding present, she did not hesitate to get to work with her husband Lucien Peyroud to make the whole world aware of the wine-growing qualities of Provence. All of this hard work led to them becoming one of the most influential wineries in the creation of the AOC Bandol, with the prestige of their wines known around the world. In 1960, Jean-Marie Peyroud, the couple’s son, continued the family tradition and began bottling the cuvées from the different estates separately: La Migoua, La Tourtine and Cabassaou. From here the historic domain, which has existed since the time of Louis XV, reached the peaks of recognition.

His Domaine Tempier La Tourtine wine is a cuvée made with the Mourvèdre, Garnacha and Cinsault varieties. These grapes come from exceptional clay-limestone slopes lying 170 metres above sea level. They are organically cultivated without the use of chemical products that could damage the natural balance of the terroir. Once the grapes have been harvested and selected by hand, they are completely destemmed and crushed to begin fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in 25 to 75 hl. foudres for a minimum of 18 months and finally bottled without refining or filtering.  

Domaine Tempier La Tourtine is a very good example of the French region of Provence. A concentrated cuvée made from historic terroirs that promises a very long life.

2018

Domaine Tempier La Tourtine 2018 is a concentrated red wine with complex aromas of ripe black fruit, hints of liquorice and touches of forest shrubland. On the palate it is smooth, deep and concentrated. A long and pure wine with an aging potential of 5 to 20 years.
