Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon is a biodynamic, wood-aged white wine made from the Chardonnay variety by Domaine Leflaive in the AOC Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru/Côte-d'Or, in Burgundy (France).
A great ambassador of Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Leflaive has been able to thrill people with their white wines like few others. Founded in 1917 by a naval engineer who inherited some vineyards in this area of Burgundy, since his death it has been run by his four sons, following the same quality standards. In 1990, they began to use biodynamic methods and now they are a reference for these practices in France.
Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon comes from a 4 hectare plot with vines aged 45 years old on average. These are old vines planted in clay-limestone soils that are cultivated using organic and biodynamic techniques. The vine yield is limited and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon grapes are slowly and gently pressed and the resulting must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in vats for 12 months. Finally it is clarified using homeopathic treatments and lightly filtered.
Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon is a deep, expressive and brilliant white wine. A Chardonnay from a great Côte de Beaune terroir.
