Sara Pérez is one of today’s most prominent names of the Spanish wine scene. Part of the renowned Pérez Ovejero family, her father José Luis led the Priorat revolution back in the 80s, and she runs the Venus la Universal winery, in Montsant with her partner René Barbier Jr. A cool, young winery that works ecologically and sustainably to produce authentic terroir wines. She is also at the helm of the Mas Martinet family winery, who are pioneering the Priorat Renaissance. She works with traditional varieties, having recovered some from near extinction, using organic agriculture and making great estate wines that really reflect the essence of the land.
