About Vino di Anna Jeudi 15 Rosso

Vino di Anna Jeudi 15 is a natural red wine made mainly from Nerello Mascalese but also incorporating a little Narello Cappucci and Alicante. It is made by the Vino di Anna winery, in Sicily.

Vino di Anna is a small family winery located on the north face of Etna, in Sicily. It has been producing natural wines for more than 10 years and cultivates small plots of old vines - from 60 to 100 years old - that are between 760 and 1,200 metres above sea level biodynamically and organically. It produces according to the principles of minimum intervention, fermenting with native yeasts, with no oenological additives, or clarification and filtration, and uses little or no sulphite.

The vineyard for Vino di Anna Jeudi 15 is a small two hectare estate of 90-year-old vines located 800 metres above sea level. The plot is north-facing and its soils are of volcanic origin.

Vino di Anna Jeudi 15 is harvested manually, and once in the cellar, 70% of it is destemmed by hand and the rest is vatted whole. It ferments in an old open oak vat. It ferments with native yeasts and the must remains in contact with the skins for about 15 days. Malolactic fermentation is then carried out in a stainless steel tank. Lastly, it spends 6 months on its fine lees, then 6 months in a 2,000 litre oak barrel, and is finally bottled without clarifying or filtering.

Vino di Anna Jeudi 15 is a fresh and fruity red with ample aromas and flavours and a pleasant mineral character.
2015 Vino di Anna Jeudi 15 2015 is a wine with aromas of juicy fruit, cherries and strawberries, and with floral notes. On the palate it displays a medium body and bright red fruit flavours combined with licorice and spices. The acidity is solid, the tannins fine and the finish lingering.
