About Tenuta le Colonne Plenum Costa Toscana

If we’re going to talk about Tuscany, wine must be mentioned. An iconic wine region, it is known for its diversity of appellations and the production of quality red and white wines. Among its highly-appreciated offerings is Tenute Le Colonne, a winery located in the Bolgheri area, one of the closest projects to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Owned since 2016 by Alejandro Bulgheroni, an Argentinian entrepreneur with a passion for wine, he knows better than anyone how to preserve tradition and quality, and maintain the high value of Bolgheri. With a total surface area of 400 hectares, 64 of which are vineyards, it produces 100% Mediterranean wines that cannot be reproduced anywhere else.

Its red wine Tenuta le Colonne Plenum Costa Toscana is a coupage of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah from majestic coastal vineyards 40 km above the sea, with sand and gravel soils. Work is carried out with minimal intervention and environmentally-friendly treatments and, once in the cellar, the selected, destemmed and crushed grapes ferment spontaneously in tapered cement vats with native yeasts for 13 days. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels without toasting for approximately 12 months before bottling.

With a wonderful intensity and a very good balance, Tenuta le Colonne Plenum Costa Toscana is the living reflection of Mediterranean life. A wine that speaks of the sea and the land from one of the most prestigious wine regions on the planet.

Tenuta Le Colonne Plenum Costa Toscana 2021 is a red wine boasting a complex bouquet, with aromas of black cherry, blueberries, and plums, complemented by subtle hints of coffee, liquorice, and leather. On the palate, it is powerful and well-structured, with smooth tannins and a vibrant freshness. The aftertaste reveals lingering nuances of plum, liquorice, and a hint of cocoa, delivering an elegant and refined finish.

Tenuta le Colonne Plenum Costa Toscana 2020 is a full-bodied red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruit, notes of roasted coffee and spicy hints. On the palate it is meaty, powerful and elegant. A medium to full-bodied wine with playful acidity, silky tannins and a penetrating, mineral finish.
