About Sandra Doix Popul Blanc

What happens when a family has spent over a century gazing at the same landscape, and one of its daughters decides to narrate it in her own voice? In Poboleda, (Tarragona, Spain), amidst the slopes of llicorella and vineyards familiar with the touch of hands, Sandra Doix has found a way to continue a family story without merely repeating it. Popul Blanc is a statement of intent: a white Priorat born from a bond with the land, yet looking forward with ease.

Sandra grew up among these vines and spent over a decade working at Mas Doix winery before embarking on her own path. Now, from Celler Sandra Doix, she revives that memory and turns it into something personal. Her vineyards are located in Poboleda, one of the coolest and latest-ripening areas of the appellation, where warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to mature slowly and retain all their energy. There, on slate costers (hillsides) with manual labour as the only way to understand the terrain's slope, the old vines find their place.

Sandra Doix Popul Blanc is primarily crafted from white Garnacha and Macabeo sourced from vineyards around 45 years old, cultivated with a respectful and attentive approach to the soil's vitality. The harvest and selection are done by hand, and in the winery, the wine ferments in stainless-steel tanks before resting on its fine lees, gaining texture and volume without losing the freshness that defines this corner of Priorat. In the glass, there is a palpable tension between fruit and stone, with a clean, deep, and delicately saline expression that unfolds slowly, allowing the landscape to gradually reveal itself.

Some wines fit any occasion, while others deserve an occasion to be built around them. Sandra Doix Popul Blanc is a bottle to open when, besides enjoying a great white wine, you want to truly pay attention to what you have in your glass, with good music and a few hours ahead with nothing to resolve. Because when someone has dedicated a lifetime to understanding a landscape, the least one can do is sit down and listen for a while.
