About Bonnet Cotton Gamay

Pierre Cotton Gamay is a natural red wine made by Pierre Cotton in Beaujolais (Vin de France) with the Gamay variety.
 
After leaving his job as a motorcycle mechanic and learning from the best natural winegrowers in the Loire Valley, Pierre Cotton returned to the family winery that lies right next to the famous Côte de Brouilly and set up his own project making minimal intervention wines and striving to showcase the expression of the purest grape. 
 
Pierre Cotton Gamay comes from a one-hectare vineyard located in Beaujolais Village. These vines are planted in granitic soil and although not certified, they are organically cultivated to respect the natural balance of the terroir. This is meticulous work with low yields and a manual harvest when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. 
 
In the winery, the Pierre Cotton Gamay grapes undergo carbonic maceration in large concrete tanks. They then undergo spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts. Finally, the wine is bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphites. 
 
Inspired by the minimal intervention work of his compatriots Yann Bertrand, Jules Metras and Keke Descombes, Pierre Cotton works with the certainty that it is the land that gives his wines all their character. The Pierre Cotton Gamay wine is proof of this. A fragrant and light Beaujolais with its own identity. 
 
2019
Pierre Cotton Gamay 2019 is a juicy red wine with aromas of red fruit juice, spicy notes and hints of dried flowers. On the palate it is light, fresh and flavoursome. A fruity wine with a succulent acidity that is easy to drink.
