About Montevertine Le Pergole Torte

Montevertine Le Pergole Torte is an ecological red wine aged in wood made by Montevertine with the Sangiovese variety in the IGP Toscana, in Tuscany (Italy). 
 
In 1967, Sergio Manetti, a professional in the steel industry, acquired Montevertine in the heart of Chianti Classico, as a second home and began dabbling in the world of viticulture as a hobby. In 1971 he released his first vintage and became an icon of Tuscan wine. His savoir faire has led him to do things differently to the norm in this denomination of origin, creating his own wines without limitations that have become cult products.
 
Montevertine Le Pergole Torte comes from vineyards lying 425 metres above sea level. These are old vines that enjoy a Mediterranean influence and are cultivated according to ecological princples. Production is limited to 45 hl/h and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
 
In the winery, Montevertine Le Pergole Torte ferments in large cement tanks for 21 days. The wine is then aged in Slavonian oak barrels for about 18 months and in French oak barrels for about 6 months. Finally, it rests in the bottle for 3 months before being sold. 
 
A flagship production in Tuscan winemaking, Montevertine Le Pergole Torte is a wine with an authentic Tuscan accent. Extreme Sangiovese purity, a bright, powerful and elegant variety. 
 
2017 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe black fruit, lavender essences and herbaceous touches. On the palate it is smooth, pure and full. A wine with polished tannins and bright acidity. Good structure, a generous mid-palate and an earthy finish. This wine also develops very well in the bottle.
2016 Montevertine Le Pergole Torte 2016 is a richly concentrated red wine exuding a delectable aromatic complexity of ripe black fruits, flinty undertones, and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is luminous, silky, and exceedingly elegant. A superb Sangiovese boasting a formidable structure and remarkable persistence, further enhanced by extended bottle aging.
