About Marcel Deiss Riesling

Marcel Deiss Riesling is a Riesling white wine made by Marcel Deiss in the AOC Alsace.

The Marcel Deiss winery is located in Bergheim, in the heart of Alsace. Working with the philosophy that the terroir is boss, they cultivate 27 hectares spread over mountain slopes in 9 different municipalities. They make soft, fresh and refreshing single-variety wines by avoiding unnecessary treatments and intervention.

Marcel Deiss Riesling comes from two different vineyards on the estate. One has soil with a filtering limestone surface and the other has sandy soil that is barely fertile and very dry. They practice organic and biodynamic agriculture (Ecocert and Demeter Certificate). The harvest is carried out manually and early to maintain good levels of acidity.

In the winery, the Marcel Deiss Riesling clusters go through a prolonged pressing. The grapes then ferment in stainless steel deposits with native yeasts. Finally the wine ages on its lees for a year.

Marcel Deiss Riesling is a white wine made by one of Alsace’s revered producers. This is one of their most fresh and fruity single-variety wines.
2016 Marcel Deiss Riesling 2016 is a light white wine with aromas of lemon, grapefruit and tangerine and fine mineral notes. On the palate it is refreshing with citrus touches and a persistent saline finish.
