About La Galaxia Rosado

Vine-soil-climate-viticulturist might just look like a list of related words, but this is actually Eulogio Pomares’s mantra for making his single-plot wines. One of these wines is the La Galaxia Rosado, a rosé wine from the D.O.C. Dao, in Beiras (Portugal), made with the native Alfrocheira, Baga and Tinta Roriz varieties.

Under the umbrella of Fento Wines, Eulogio Pomares began seeing his dream of making wines from unique vineyards come true in 2012. To do this, he uses small winegrowers in areas like Condado do Tea (Spain), Dao and Alentejo (Portugal), which gets him the best grapes in the area and allows him to use experimental ideas in the winery, making the right decisions for each vintage. To make La Galaxia Rosado, he teamed up with viticulturist Álvaro de Castro to reflect the strength of the grapes from central Portugal and produce an original wine full of personality.

La Galaxia Rosado comes from around 60 hectares of vineyards planted in mountainous areas around 550 metres above sea level. These are 30-65 year old strains growing on granite-based soils with lines of sand and clay. Once the grapes have been manually harvested, they are destemmed and pressed directly in the winery. Fermentation and aging then takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.

All of this work results in La Galaxia Rosado, a delicious coupage where each variety perfectly contributes its own nuances and together they take you on an journey to the stars with a single sip.

2020

La Galaxia Rosado 2020 is a fresh rosé wine with a pale pink colour and bright reflections. On the nose it is citric, floral and mineral. On the palate it is complex, fresh and balanced. A wine with a beautiful tension and a persistent and salty finish.
