About Hibiscus Onde di Sole

Hibiscus Onde di Sole is a white wine aged on lees made by Hibiscus with the Grillo variety in the IGT Terre Siciliane (Italy). 
 
Hibiscus is a small project born out of love for the Sicilian island of Ustica. This is a volcanic land bathed by the sea and the Mediterranean breeze, and this winery’s owners work to enhance this truly unique character in their wines. To do this, they have chosen to use Sicilian native varieties like Inzolia, Zibbibo, Catarratto and Grillo and their work is based on the local farming and seafaring traditions.
 
Hibiscus Onde di Sole comes from vines planted on terraces at 20-30 metres above sea level. These are native vines growing in medium texture soils of volcanic origin. They are cultivated using respectful agriculture and renewable energy. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are manually harvested and transported in small boxes. 
 
In the winery, once the Hibiscus Onde di Sole grapes have been selected, they are gently pressed and the resulting must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine then stays in these same tanks for 6 months followed by 3 more months in the bottle. 
 
Part of the “Vinos de las Islas Menores del Mediterráneo”, a project that works to promote the warmth, strength and​beauty of these archipelagos, Hibiscus Onde di Sole is a white wine that speaks deeply of the sea.
2022
Hibiscus Onde di Sole 2022 is a highly expressive white wine. On the nose, it stands out for its fruity aromas featuring notes of ripe apple, peach, lemon, and pear, complemented by an elegant mineral nuance. On the palate, it is dry but retains its fruity character, with orange accompanied by a hint of thyme. A crisp and fleshy white wine, with refreshing acidity and a pleasant length.
 
2019
Hibiscus Onde di Sole 2019 is a white wine with intense aromas of white and tropical fruit, citrus notes and hints of thyme. On the palate it is fresh and flavoursome with a touch of the sea. A full-bodied wine with well-supported acidity and a delicately salty finish.
