About Georges Laval Garennes Extra Brut

Georges Laval Garennes Extra Brut is a biodynamic Champagne made by the Georges Laval winery in Champagne, France.

Georges Laval Garennes Extra Brut is made with the Pinot Meunier variety from the plots in Chambrecy. To give it complexity, it is assembled with reserve wines that were not used to make the Georges Laval Cumières Premier Cru. The musts ferment and age in the barrel, which gives it body and roundness. Dosage of one gram of sugar per litre is added to the resulting Champagne to improve the balance of these 4,400 bottles of an extra brut sparkling wine.

The Georges Laval winery is located in Cumières, near Epernay, in the heart of the Champagne region. The vineyards, planted with strains aged between 30 and 80 years old, are cultivated according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture, prioritising observation and prevention to protect the vines from pests and applying mineral preparations only when necessary. The harvests are carried out manually and the grapes are pressed using their own traditional champagne press.

The quality of the harvest, the long vinification periods and the limited production make it possible to naturally clarify and filter the wines without needing to add other products. All of these artisan practices result in an honest and elegant champagne that is a pure reflection of the terroir.
