About Fabio Gea Pinotto Dolcetto D'Alba

Fabio Gea Pinotto Dolcetto D'Alba is a natural barrel-aged red wine made by Fabio Gea in Piedmont (Italy) with the Dolcetto D'Alba variety.

Following the winemaking tradition of his grandfather, Fabio Gea produces wines at his Barbaresco estate. He is known for using traditional and biodynamic methods and the area’s native grape, as well as porcelain amphorae. He seeks to intervene as little as possible in the vineyard and in the winery, which results in incredibly balanced natural wines.

Fabio Gea Pinotto Dolcetto D'Alba comes from a 25-year-old vineyard with a traditional plantation of 2 vines close to each other every 3 meters and next to fruit trees and herbaceous plants. Fabio practices a respectful agriculture using only small amounts of copper and sulphur combined with plant-based biodynamic preparations. Once the grapes reach their optimal conditions, they are harvested manually.

In the winery, Fabio Gea Pinotto Dolcetto D'Alba grapes are destemmed by hand and the must is vinified spontaneously with native yeasts in porcelain amphora that Fabio Gea designed himself and calls “toilets”.

2016 Fabio Gea Pinotto Dolcetto D'Alba 2016 is an intense red wine with a fruity nose and touches of rose, violet and herbs. On the palate it is fresh with fine tannins and a beautiful persistence.
