About Cortes de Cima Lour-inho

The expression "like father, like son" holds much truth. However, while children inherit their parents' legacy, they don't always follow the same path. This is how Anna Jørgensen, upon taking the helm of Cortes de Cima in 2020, decided to infuse her own vision and impart a fresh twist to the family legacy.

Founded by her parents, an American-Danish couple, Cortes de Cima was a pioneer in the Alentejo region, standing out for its innovative approach and "new world" style that broke away from Portuguese winemaking tradition. Yet Anna, with over a decade of international experience, felt the time had come to embrace a less interventionist approach, where the pure expression of the terroir would take centre stage.

Cortes de Cima Lour-inho exemplifies this change in direction. Originating from vineyards rooted in the cool sands of the Atlantic coast, it is a blend of albariño and loureiro, two varieties that, after being hand-harvested, are fermented separately. The albariño matures in a 2000-litre Slovenian foudre, while the loureiro rests in 500-litre oak barrels for 10 months. Then, a final phase of 8 months in stainless steel with fine lees consolidates the harmony and depth of this unique wine.

Cortes de Cima Lour-inho is the contemporary interpretation of a family story that continues to evolve, where tradition adapts to a new era, with a clear vision of respect for the land and constant innovation. A wine that, like the waves of the Atlantic, keeps renewing and leaving its mark, yet never loses its essence.
