Over a century ago, Don Saturnino Daroca, a vintner and winemaker, planted the first vines in Sojuela, a village in close proximity to Navarrete. Years later, in 1974, his son-in-law, Don Martín Corral, established the new winery and expanded markets beyond Spanish borders. These initial efforts sowed the seeds of a family enterprise that, through a century of diligent work, has become one of the most significant in the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Undoubtedly, if this rich history and tradition had a flavour, it would unquestionably be that of Altos de Corral Single Estate Crianza, a noble and straightforward red wine that, despite its time in oak barrels, retains a pronounced fruity character.
The tempranillo grape will be the sole and exclusive variety used in the production of this wine. However, although this variety is the most emblematic of the denomination, those that give life to Altos de Corral Single Estate hail from a very specific and special place: the vineyards owned by the family at an altitude of 700 meters, in the highest areas of the denomination. This elevation, combined with the clay-limestone soils (in the northern region) and alluvial soils (in the southern region), enhances the fresh character and delightful acidity that will define Altos de Corral Single Estate from its inception.
In the winery, Altos de Corral Single Estate is processed and fermented in fermentation tanks. Once the process is complete, is racked and pressed, yielding the wine that is transferred to 225-litre French oak barrels where it will rest for approximately a year. After this period, Altos de Corral Single Estate is bottled and allowed to rest for another year before consumption, allowing its nuances to fully mature and refine.
When the time comes, Altos de Corral Single Estate will be perfect for tasting and will become the finest storyteller to convey and illustrate the legacy of this remarkable family. Open a bottle of Altos de Corral Single Estate, take a sip, and let yourself be transported.
