Vinyes Tortuga Juicy Blanco

Turtles are reptiles that have been roaming the earth since the time of the dinosaurs, and they play several valuable roles in the ecosystem, like maintaining the food balance between different communities, spreading plant seeds through their digestive tract, and creating habitats for other animals by moving lots of earth. However, modern society is threatening their existence through issues like climate change, overexploitation as pets or the destruction of their habitat. Faced with this reality, Dido & Jurriaan, two Dutch winegrowers who have travelled the world making natural wines, arrived in Rabos, in the Empordà (Catalonia) and, sharing their land with turtles, they started their most personal project, Vinyes Tortuga.

One of the results of their work is Vinyes Tortuga Juicy Blanco, a coupage made with white varieties like Chenin Blanc and Macabeo that come from slate soils and are cultivated using biodynamic and permacultural methods. With a simple philosophy of turning the grapes into wine, without adding or removing anything, the grapes are directly pressed whole in the winery and fermented with native yeasts. Then the wine is aged 50% in used barrels and the other 50% in stainless steel tanks for 4 months.

Refreshing, light and flavoursome, Vinyes Tortuga Juicy Blanco is an authentic, thirst-quenching juice. A very creative natural white wine that even radiates originality through its label designed by the makers themselves with a fun and very striking image.
