About Sarnin - Berrux Bourgogne Aligoté
Many people associate the name Epicurus with restaurants and delicatessens. This association between the philosopher and the gourmet has its origins in his phrase: “The beginning and root of all good is the pleasure of the stomach.” Following this epicurean philosophy, Jean-Pascal Sarnin and Jean-Marie Berrux, who are passionate about good wine and good food, set up their own winery based in Saint-Romain. A winemaking project that always has its sights set on sustainability and quality and is part of the renaissance of this region of Burgundy (France).
Sarnin and Berrux don’t have their own vineyards, but they travel throughout the region (Meursault, Aloxe-Corton, Volnay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Saint-Romain, Savigny, etc.) to lease and monitor certified organic, biodynamic or in-conversion vineyards. Their Sarnin - Berrux Bourgogne Aligoté comes from a 30 year old Aligoté vineyard where they carry out meticulous work with limited yields. The grapes are harvested by hand in perforated crates and undergo cold skin-contact maceration in the winery. Alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and the wine is aged in the same vessel for 7 months.
Considering that the Aligoté variety is not the most famous variety in Burgundy and that, according to Sarnin - Berrux, it receives less attention than it deserves, with Sarnin - Berrux Bourgogne Aligoté from the AOC Bourgogne Aligoté, they are bringing back the pleasure of enjoying a vibrant, fresh and mineral white.
2018 | Sarnin - Berrux Bourgogne Aligoté 2018 is a white wine characterized by its highly expressive bouquet of white blossoms, zesty lemon peel aromatics, and hints of honey. On the palate, it is crisp, vivacious, and imbued with minerality. This wine boasts a splendid acidity, a seamless flow, and an elongated finish with a subtle saline quality. |
