About René Bouvier Marsannay Le Clos Monopole

René Bouvier Marsannay Le Clos Monopole is a Chardonnay variety white wine made in the AOC Marsannay by René Bouvier.

From the beginning of this family winery in 1910, René Bouvier has made considerable progress in recent years, especially thanks to the production of wines with finer extractions and the use of ecological and biodynamic practices in the vineyard. A total of 17 hectares of vineyards and 18 denominations, stretching from Marsannay to Gevrey-Chambertin. Currently run by Bernard Bouvier, the founder's grandson, the entire range has been certified organic since 2013.

René Bouvier Marsannay Le Clos Monopole comes from 60-year-old vines over three hectares, in the south of this denomination. Strains facing east, sitting on a gentle slope and cultivated using ecological, organic and biodynamic practices, without the use of herbicides or pesticides. The grapes are manually selected and harvested in 15 kg boxes.

René Bouvier Marsannay Le Clos Monopole is selected and destemmed in the winery. It is vinified for 18 months in 600-litre oak barrels, 30% of which are new. Then it is very lightly filtered before bottling.

Although this winery makes few white wines, René Bouvier Marsannay Le Clos Monopole shows that Bouvier knows how to do it very well. A splendid bottle full of minerality from a terroir worth admiring.
