About René Bouvier Marsannay Clos du Roy Vieilles Vignes
René Bouvier Marsannay Clos du Roy Vieilles Vignes is a Pinot Noir variety red wine produced by René Bouvier in the AOC Marsannay.
Over the years, vintage by vintage, Domaine René Bouvier has become a benchmark of Côte de Nuits. And that is because they have mastered the Pinor Noir variety through an ecological and biodynamic approach in the vineyard. Although the estate was created in 1910 in Marsannay by Henri Bouvier, his grandson Bernard Bouvier took over in 1992. Today, the estate is located in Brochon, north of Gevrey-Chambertin and covers 17 hectares, spread across 18 denominations in Burgundy, Côte-De-Nuits-Villages, Fixin, Marsannay and Gevrey-Chambertin.
The terroir where René Bouvier Marsannay Clos du Roy Vieilles Vignes comes from is undoubtedly one of the best terroirs of the AOC Marsannay. It is located to the immediate south of Chenove and the estate has 2.3 hectares of the Pinot Noir variety. They are 60-year-old strains planted in sandy soils with layers of granite and gravel and cultivated through certified organic farming methods (Ecocert). Careful and rigorous work is carried out in the vineyard to protect secondary fauna and soil life. The yields are limited. Harvesting and selection is carried out manually. The grapes are transported in 15 kg boxes.
In the winery, the René Bouvier Marsannay Clos du Roy Vieilles Vignes grape passes over the selection table, is destemmed and fermented for 20 days with native yeasts at a controlled temperature. Extractions are light and pressing is delicate. The wine then ages in barrels for 16 to 18 months.
René Bouvier Marsannay Clos du Roy Vieilles Vignes is an avant-garde red wine but with plenty of fruit at the same time. Although it is sold already at its best for consumption, it can be kept for 6 to 8 years without issue.

2016 | René Bouvier Marsannay Clos du Roy Vieilles Vignes 2016 is a concentrated red wine that expresses ripe black fruits like plums, blueberries and blackberries on the nose, with floral and spicy notes. The palate is structured and powerful with a long finish and notes of white pepper and liquorice. |
