About Ossian Verdling Trocken
Ossian Verdling Trocken is a white wine produced by the winery Ossian Vides y Vinos in Nieva (Segovia), V.T. Castilla y León. It currently belongs to the Pago de Carraovejas winery
Ossian Vides y Vinos is a winery founded by Javier Zaccagnini and Ismael Gonzalo, when in 2005 they produced a differentiated white wine for ageing, trying to recover the essence of the Verdejo variety, originated in unique pre-phylloxera vineyards that are between one hundred and two hundred years old.
Ossian Vides y Vinos cultivate 9 hectares of vineyards in an organic way, officially certified since 2001. It is the oldest organic vineyard registered and certified in the Denomination of Origin Rueda.
The process of creating white Ossian wines is complemented with a cared for and unique production system, always searching for the respect for the raw material. They put emphasis on each and every one of the processes, trying to achieve the maximum quality, giving these wines a particular differentiation.
Ossian Verdling Trocken is a wine made from 100% Verdejo, from vase-shaped vines, ungrafted with very low yields. The plot has high contents of sand, gravel and boulders of different sizes.
The harvest is performed by hand. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they are refrigerated in cool chambers. Once they go through cold maceration, they are pressed without destemming. Once they are settled, they start the fermentation in stainless steel deposits, at a controlled temperature, with local yeasts.
Ossian Verdling Trocken is a juicy, fresh and aromatic wine. The name Verdling comes from the combination of the words "Verdejo" and "Riesling". This wine is born from the collaboration with the German oenologist Klaus Peter Keller.
