About Ormanni Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
The "Consorcio para la Defensa del Vino Típico de Chianti" was established in 1924 to ensure the production standards of Chianti. Its emblem, the renowned "Black Rooster," not only embodies the cultural heritage of the region but is also synonymous with the quality and authenticity of this iconic Italian wine. Ormanni, named after the founding family of the estate in the 13th century, has been a key member of this consortium from the outset, pioneering the preservation of winemaking traditions and the promotion of sustainable practices. A steadfast commitment to excellence ensures the perfect representation of the character and richness of the Tuscan terroir.
As a testament to this dedication, they present Ormanni Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, a red wine crafted from handpicked sangiovese grapes from the oldest vineyards in the Barberino Val d'Elsa area, in Tuscany (Italy). The vineyard is managed organically, and the harvest is conducted manually at the peak of ripeness. In the winery, the finest grapes are selected, destemmed, and crushed to begin fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks for 15-18 days. Subsequently, the wine ages for approximately 24 months in barrels and an additional 12 months in the bottle before being released to the market.
The result of this meticulous winemaking process allows Ormanni Chianti Classico Gran Selezione to convey the depth and complexity of the Tuscan terroir. An elegant and robust wine integrated into the DOCG Chianti Classico, it invites Chianti enthusiasts to indulge in an authentic and memorable experience under the emblem of the majestic black rooster.
