About Mineral del Montsant
Mineral del Montsant is a red wine made by the Cara Nord winery in the Montsant. The name of the winery comes from the location of its vineyards, planted on the north side of the mountains of Prades, in the town of Vimbodí-Poblet (Tarragona)
Mineral del Montsant is made from the Carignan (80%) and Grenache (20%) varieties. The grapes come from old vines between 35 and 45 years old planted in glass.
Regarding the soil, Grenache vines are planted in calcareous soil and Carignan in calcareous and red clay soil.
The vines bear a Mediterranean climate with continental influences, characterised by very dry summers. The average annual temperature of the environment is not high, around 15ºC. With regards to rainfall, the annual average is 550L / m2.
Mineral del Montsant is fermented at a controlled temperature of 26°C for 14 days and subsequent malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless steel deposits.
To finish Mineral del Montsant, it is aged for 6 months in French oak.
2019 | Mineral del Montsant 2019 is a juicy red wine with a seductive nose of black fruits, vanilla notes and hints of white pepper. On the palate, it’s flavorsome, fresh and enveloping. A medium-bodied wine where the acidity counterbalances the fine liquoriness and the barrel contributes suggestive smoky touches. The finish is subtle and balanced. |

2013 | Good entry, with spices and coffee. Very powerful, broad and thick. Intense and fresh taste. Brilliant red, razor sharp. Presence of flowers, minerals and graphite. Notes of red fruit (raspberry). Elegant, subtle and balanced. |
