If you haven't heard of pineau d'aunis, it's because you have yet to delve into the treasures of the Loire Valley. This ancient grape variety, forgotten and often maligned in the Saumur region, was sidelined for years in favour of more productive and commercially viable vines. However, visionaries like Guillaume Reynouard, winemaker at Manoir de la Tête Rouge, are rediscovering its potential. With its spicy and fresh profile, pineau d'aunis is establishing itself as an authentic and deeply expressive alternative, perfect for those seeking wines with character and authenticity. Manoir Tête de la Rouge K’ Sa Tête is testament to this.

Produced on the estate located at the foot of the Puy Notre Dame hill in Saumur, Manoir Tête de la Rouge K’ Sa Tête is a red wine made from 15-year-old pineau d'aunis vines planted on clay-limestone soils and cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles. The harvest is manual, and in the winery, the grapes are fully destemmed to begin maceration in concrete vats for 12 days in infusion and spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. Afterwards, the wine ages for 6 months in barrels and is bottled without fining or filtering.

Contrary to the trend of productive and standardised winemaking, Manoir Tête de la Rouge K’ Sa Tête captures the essence of the terroir. A single-varietal from a grape recovered from oblivion that reveals all the authenticity and character of pineau d'aunis.
