About Maison Manchès Côte Rotie Les Pimotins
A lot of the time, coincidences are not just coincidences and only those with an open and intuitive mind know how to make the most of them. If there is one thing Pierre Gaillard, one of the first winemakers in the Northern Rhône who revolutionised the area in the 1980s, and Jean-Philippe Manchès, a young winemaker with a passion for wines, champagne and spirits, have in common, it is their love of terroir. A passion that has led their paths to cross and to them wanting to work together under the Maison Manchès brand. From the legendary Côte Rôtie to Condrieu, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage, both enjoy the pleasure of growing vines and together they produce gourmet wines that are rich in fruit and true to where they came from.
Maison Manchès Côte Rotie Les Pimotins starts life on the slopes of the Pimotin, in the Rhone (France), a place where the qualities of the Syrah variety are wonderfully magnified. A cuvée from the AOC Côte Rôtie made mostly from Syrah vines and a small amount of Viognier planted on schist soil rich in iron oxide. Traditional cultivation is carried out and, once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested by hand with a strict selection of the best fruit. In the winery, the grapes are again selected and destemmed to initiate a cold pre-fermentation maceration. The wine is then fermented at 35ºC in stainless steel tanks and finally aged in new fine grain oak barrels (Allier and Nevers) for 18 months.
Maison Manchès Côte Rotie Les Pimotins is a wine that shows us the most noble side of the Rhône. A very gourmet red made by Gaillard and Manchès that allows us to enjoy a Syrah in all its splendour. With this wine, they show that their work is not the result of chance, but of their passion for the terroir.
