Les Trois Petiotes Le P'tit Poucet 2020 is a smooth red wine with aromas of red fruit, notes of orange blossom and hints of pink grapefruit. On the palate it is fresh, light and thirst-quenching. A wine with marked acidity and fine, soft tannins that will leave you wanting more and more.
From middle management of a department store to winegrower with three small plots of one hectare each. This is how Valerie Godelu ended up leaving her busy city life and realising her dream of extracting the lightest natural juices from Bordeaux, in the heart of the Côtes de Bourg, under the Les Trois Petiotes brand. These are subtle and very personal wines, which have nothing to do with the region’s usual offering.
This is true for Les Trois Petiotes Le P'tit Poucet, a coupage of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc from old vines lying along the Gironde estuary on a small, well-ventilated plateau. These are 50-year-old vines planted on deep clay soils that are mainly cultivated by hand using traditional tools and organic practices without pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. Pruning is severe to keep yields very low and to guarantee the quality and concentration of aromas and flavours in the fruit. The grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes, the grapes are selected in the vineyard and once they reach the winery, vinification is carried out with native yeasts without any added sulphites. The wine is then aged in barrels for 10 months and finally bottled without clarifying or filtering and adding a minimum amount of sulphur.
Thanks to this gentle and sensitive work, Les Trois Petiotes Le P'tit Poucet is an opportunity to discover a new side of Bordeaux. An honest Vin de France that is full of fruit, freshness and depth.
