About Le Ragnaie Toscana Bianco
Le Ragnaie Toscana Bianco is a wine produced by the La Ragnaie winery in Siena, in the province of Tuscany, specifically in the municipality of Montalcino, where the Campinoti family owns 28 hectares of vineyards and olive groves.
Le Ragnaie Toscana Bianco is an orange wine. This is the name given to white wines that are made in the same way as red wines, leaving the must to ferment in contact with the skins. During this process, both the grape skins and the grape pips bring different features to the must, like tannins, creating the characteristic orange colour of these wines. And that is where the name comes from.
To make Le Ragnaie Toscana Bianco, the Malvasia and Trebbiano must speds 6 days in contact with the skins. Both varieties are cultivated completely organically, seeking total respect for the environment, avoiding using chemicals and fertilisers on the old vines (40 years old on average), which grow in the Montalcino County, at a high altitude. The grapes are of course harvested by hand, taking special care of the condition of the bunches in order to vinify Le Ragnaie Toscana Bianco. Only the best are good enough to enter the stainless steel tanks. To find the best, all the bunches are placed on a vibrating table, where they are cleaned and the dry leaves and berries in poorer condition are removed.
Finally a year of aging in 600-litre used acacia barrels is the finishing touch for Le Ragnaie Toscana Bianco: a lively and vibrant wine from the I.G.T.Toscana Bianco.
2020 | Le Ragnaie Toscana Bianco 2020 is a creamy orange wine. The nose is intense, with aromas of white fruits, citrus, aromatic herbs and mineral touches. The palate is pleasant, with a great initial freshness that ends in saline touches. Almond finish. |
