About Las Retamas del Regajal
Las Retamas is a red wine from Madrid produced by Viñas de El Regajal. It is a blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah.
For this wine, the grapes are carefully selected in the winery and come from vineyards and other farms in the Madrid area.
The grapes come from young vines planted in 1998 and grown on soils divided into three layers: the shallowest is calcareous, with sandy and clay gypsiferous middle and bottom layers.
The harvest takes place during September and varieties continue the winemaking process separately in small stainless steel tanks before the final assembly.
Las Retamas finally ages for between 9 and 11 months in French oak barrels in order to preserve the values of the fruit.
Las Retamas is bottled unfiltered after being passed by cold.
El Regajal has 16 hectares of vines that were planted in 1998. They use biodynamic methods and the natural cycles of the earth are respected.
El Regajal is also a farm known worldwide by fans os insects since the nineteenth century, for in it you can find 77 of the 225 species that exist in the Iberian Peninsula.
2016 | Las Retamas del Regajal 2016 is an expressive, complex and elegant red wine. In this vintage, the aromas of ripe red fruit stand out, with spicy notes on a very subtle toasted background. In the mouth, it is silky, full-bodied and with quite a long finish. | |
2013 | Juicy and slightly creamy. Especially nice and cool. Intense cherry red with purple trim. Fresh red fruit and vegetable flavours come together on a background of spices. |
