About Lacourte-Godbillon Terroirs d'Ecueil Champagne Premier Cru
Behind the renowned grand champagne houses lies a captivating world of family estates, which are the true custodians of the winemaking tradition in the Champagne region. These small holdings, often passed down through generations, meticulously cultivate the grapes that become the essence of the world's most refined champagnes. These families, deeply connected to the land, know every corner of their vineyards and master the nuances of the terroir like no one else. Their passion for viticulture and commitment to excellence are reflected in every grape they grow. It is not surprising, then, that some of these families decide to take a further step and venture into producing and marketing their own wines. This is how the estate Lacourte-Godbillon ends up creating its own brand, showcasing a unique and authentic expression of champagne.
Since 2006, the winery has been managed by the latest heirs, Géraldine and Richard, two former executives who left the big city to carefully select their ancient parcels and preserve this exclusive heritage. This dedication is evident in Lacourte-Godbillon Terroirs d'Ecueil Champagne Premier Cru, a champagne made from chardonnay and pinot noir grapes sourced from vineyards located in Ecueil, a Premier Cru village situated on the western slope of the Montagne de Reims (France). The vines, around 30 years old, are planted in sandy, clay, and chalky soils. They are organically farmed with biodynamic treatments, and the harvest is done by hand at the optimal moment of ripeness. In the winery, the grapes first ferment in stainless steel, and a small portion is aged in oak barrels. Then, a second fermentation takes place in the bottle, according to the champenoise method, with a resting period of 27 months. Finally, disgorgement is performed with a dosage of 5 g/l.
As a result, Lacourte-Godbillon Terroirs d'Ecueil Champagne Premier Cru is a sparkling wine that combines the modern character of the new generationLacourte-Godbillon with the fine fruitiness and elegant depth characteristic of AOC Champagne. A unique experience that honors both tradition and innovation.
