About La Grange Aux Belles Brise d'Aunis

"Brice de Nice," a French comedy starring Jean Dujardin, casts its protagonist Brice as a youthful, carefree surfer who is stuck in a Mediterranean bay where waves are virtually non-existent. The movie, full of humorous phrases, has become very popular in France and its fame has generated so much influence that even La Grange Aux Belles, a wine project created by three friends from the Loire, have named one of their wines La Grange Aux Belles Brise d'Aunis in honor of the comedy. The truth is that we do not know if Julien Bresteau, Marc Houtin and Gérald Peau are very fond of movies, but what we can assure you is that, like the film, they have managed to reflect the freshest, youngest and most versatile character and identity of French culture in this wine.

Made from the indigenous pineau d'aunis variety, a grape particularly popular in the Anjou and Touraine region and part of the rich winemaking tradition of that part of the Loire Valley, La Grange Aux Belles Brise d'Aunis is a red wine made from old vines planted in a terroir of schist and clay. It is worked under organic certification, with biodynamic treatments and following the sustainable and timeless cultivation methodology of the prestigious French geologist Yves Herody. After the manual harvest, the grapes are manually destemmed in the winery and then fermented in fiberglass tanks with indigenous yeasts and a short maceration process. Finally, the wine is aged in these same tanks for 6 months before bottling, unfiltered, unclarified and with a minimum amount of sulfur added.

With a flavorsome style and a spicy character, La Grange Aux Belles Brise d'Aunis offers the perfect balance between youth and depth. A natural red wine from the Loire that has managed to surf like no one else among the classics to ride the crest of the wave of minimal intervention.
