About Hajszan Neumann Natural Gemischter Satz
Hajszan Neumann Naturel Gemischter Satz is a biodynamic orange wine made by Hajszan Neumann with the Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, Traminer and Riesling varieties in the Austrian denomination of Weinland Österreich, in Vienna.
Hajszan Neumann is known for making elegant and quality wines in the Grinzing district of the city of Vienna. The vineyards are located at the foot of the Nussberg mountain. Managed by the great winemaker Fritz Wieninger, their wines are made under the biodynamic precepts defined by the anthroposophist Rudolf Steiner.
Hajszan Neumann Naturel Gemischter Satz is a natural wine which is made from grapes from old vineyards. The soil consists of limestone, clay and chalk. Ecological agriculture is practiced and biodynamic treatments are used instead of chemical products. The harvest is manual and the grape is selected on the vine itself.
In the cellar, once the Hajszan Neumann Naturel Gemischter Satz grapes are crushed, they spontaneously ferment with native yeasts in concrete eggs. Afterwards the wine macerates in its skins for 5 months and without adding sulfur. Finally, the wine ages in used 500-liter wooden barrels for 6 weeks and is bottled without clarifying or filtering.
Hajszan Neumann Naturel Gemischter Satz 2017 is a natural wine macerated with skins which shows all the elegance and minerality of a unique vineyard which has not undergone any kind of intervention.
