Guilera Brut Gran Reserva is a cava made by Cava Guilera in Lavern (Penedés). D.O. Cava.
Cava Guilera is a family-run company that dates back to 1927, when Isidre Guilera, the person in charge, decided to produce his own cava. Currently in charge of production is Isidre’s grandson Pere Guilera, together with his daughter Marta, who is in charge of the commercial and wine tourism side.
Cava Guilera has always specialised in producing long-aged cavas, Reservas and Gran Reservas, in small quantities, making no more than 30,000 bottles in total.
Cava Guilera began life in the vineyards next to the Ca l’Artigas farmhouse, a family estate since 1933. Located in the heart of the Penedés, this area has a temperate climate, with mild winters and not-too-dry summers. The soils here are chalky-clay with medium fertility.
Guilera Brut Gran Reserva is a cava made with Xarel·lo, Macabeo and Parellada from their own vineyards.
Once the base wine is made, a second fermentation takes place in the bottle for a minimum of 5 years. After this, the disgorging process takes place and the expedition liqueur, the same cava with a touch of sugar, is added.
