About Fattoria Rodáno Viacosta Chianti Classico Riserva

Fattoria Rodáno Viacosta Chianti Classico Riserva is a wood-aged red wine made by Fattoria Rodáno with the Sangiovese variety in the DOCG Chianti Classico Riserva, in Tuscany (Italy). 
 
Owned by the Pozzesi family for four generations, Fattoria Rodáno is a winery located in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti in the heart of the Chianti Classico denomination. Curiously, it lies on one of the roads that make up the old “Via Franchigena”, a route from the Middle Ages used by pilgrims travelling from northern Europe to Rome. Today the winery is one of the main sources of Chianti Classico and its wines are one of the best kept secrets in all of Tuscany. 
 
Fattoria Rodáno Viacosta Chianti Classico Riserva comes from a 21-hectare vineyard lying at 250-300 metres above sea level. A beautiful location with gentle hills with calcareous soils and the texture of dry land. The vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually in boxes with the grapes selected in the vineyard.
 
In the winery, the Fattoria Rodáno Viacosta Chianti Classico Riserva grapes macerate and ferment for 25 days. The wine is then aged for 36 months in 10-35 hl oak barrels before being bottled.

Fattoria Rodáno Viacosta Chianti Classico Riserva 2016 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe black fruit, earthy notes and hints of tobacco. On the palate it is fruity, powerful and enveloping. A medium-bodied wine with lively acidity, a silky mid-palate and a long, persistent finish.
