Elvio Cogno Nebbiolo Montegrilli is a red wine made by Elvio Cogno with the Nebbiolo variety in the DOC Langhe Nebbiolo in Piedmont (Italy).
Named after its creator, the Elvio Cogno winery lies on the Bricco Ravera hills, in Novello, in the heart of the Langhe. A historic 18th century estate with 11 hectares of vineyards lying on a hilltop called Bricco Ravera. This land is used to create some great gentle, elegant and world-renowned wines.
Elvio Cogno Nebbiolo Montegrilli comes from a small vineyard of less than one hectare at an altitude of 380 metres above sea level. These vines are planted on limestone and clay soils and sustainably cultivated. When the grapes are ripe, they are harvested manually.
Once the Elvio Cogno Nebbiolo Montegrilli grapes have been crushed, they are fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures and with automatic pump overs. The wine ages in stainless steel tanks for 6 months and another 6 months in the bottle.
In homage to Eugenio, the grandfather of the family, Elvio Cogno Nebbiolo Montegrilli is a wine that showcases the varietal expression of the Langhe’s great grape; the Nebbiolo. A smooth, elegant and honest wine.
