About Castell d'Encús Ekam Essència

Castell d'Encús Ekam Essència is a white wine produced by the winery Castell d'Encús in the D.O. Costers del Segre, a winery situated in the Catalan Pyrenees at nearly 1,000 metres above sea level, making it the highest altitude winery in Spain. Its proprietor, Raúl Bobet, is renowned for crafting one of the trendiest wines in Priorat, Ferrer Bobet.

Castell d'Encús Ekam Essència is a single-varietal wine made from the Riesling grape. It is produced from noble rot of botrytised grapes, grapes infected with Botrytis, a fungus that attacks the grape by removing water and leaving a high concentration of sugar, fruit acids, and minerals. The harvest is conducted manually in small 10 kg boxes, and vinification occurs in 6 hl vats at low temperature.

Castell d'Encús Ekam Essència undergoes an ageing process of 36 months in the bottle before being released to the market. A limited production of 3,000 bottles for this exceptional wine crafted in the style of German Rieslings.
