Cuvée Barcelona 1872 Brut Rosé is a dry sparkling wine (with less than 12 g/L of sugar). It is pale pink in color and deliciously fruity. Citrus and red fruits emerge on the nose, where they blend with notes of brioche resulting from the aging process. The palate is creamy, with very fine, elegant and well-integrated bubbles. A fresh and full-bodied finish.

About Cuvée Barcelona 1872 Brut Rosé
Although diamonds were nowhere to be seen in the story itself, in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Truman Capote showed us that when it comes to complementing the first meal of the day, anything goes. If in the famous movie directed by Blake Edwards, Audrey Hepburn herself did so in New York with coffee and croissants in front of the Tiffany's display (by now a total icon), why can't we do the same with a glass of Cuvée Barcelona 1872 Brut Rosé?
Versatile and very expressive. Cuvée Barcelona 1872 Brut Rosé is the perfect sparkling wine for every occasion. Ideal at any time of day. Its name pays double homage: firstly, it refers to the year in which Josep Raventós (one of the generations of the Codorniú saga) produced the first bottle of cava; secondly, it is a pure expression of love for Catalan modernism, in a bottle that recreates the modernist stained-glass windows of his winery (declared a National Historic and Artistic Monument in 1976 by Puig i Cadafalch).
The heart and soul of these pink bubbles can be found in Cava DO, specifically in the Penedés region, where the red varieties used in its production are grown. Due to the geographical variety (with different altitudes and orientations), the bunches of grapes grow with a huge diversity of microclimates. However, their common factor is the long summers with high temperatures and a maritime influence.
Enjoying a glass of Cuvée Barcelona 1872 Brut Rosé is like traveling back in time, since the same techniques are used in its production as half a century ago, when Codorniú had much less technology available. When it came to fermentation temperature, the degrees were controlled using the layer system. This consisted of adding fresh must on top of the fermenting must. As for the tanks, the materials traditionally used in the past - wood and cement lined with ceramic tiles - coexist alongside modern stainless steel tanks. Once the final blend of base wines has been decided, Cuvée Barcelona 1872 Brut Rosé is bottled and liqueur de tirage is added. This liquid, made up of wine, sugar, fining agent and yeast, guarantees the second fermentation that will take place in the underground cellars during the nine months of resting.
